Status Barbers

Status Barbers

A simple & clean website for a newly-opened Barbershop, Status already had their branding in place but required an online presence that reflected their business.

286Blue created a stylish & informative site using elements of the shop decor, as well as helping Status get listed on Google Maps and other search engines to generate visitors from mobile & desktop searches.

With a Facebook “Like” button to gather fans for the already-established Facebook page, the site features a link to maps to help customers find directions to the location easily, and the build allows expansion of the site in the future.

StreetwearBrands.comStreetwearBrands.com, a new website dedicated to blogging about streetwear brands and stores, required a neutral logo and website,  to allow the news posts and affiliate ads to take center-stage, whilst creating a distinctive and memorable identity.

A simple palette of black, white & greys was used to allow the colourful images to stand out, and the blog is linked to Facebook & Twitter to autopost social updates whenever the blog is updated.

286Blue.com created the brand identity, graphics, and website, as well as registering the domain name and hosting the site.

Shepland

Shepland

BRANDING, IDENTITY, LOGO, & GRAPHICS.

SheplandAhead of it’s time, Shepland launched in 2005 and pre-empted the premium menswear movement that gathered mainstream momentum in 2010. Harking back to a bygone age of authentic products and manufacturing heritage in Britain, Shepland featured a handcrafted range of premium knitwear, along with a collection of tees and sweatshirts.

The name of the brand was important as it had to refer to the wool knitwear whilst being punchy, short, and memorable. 286Blue named the brand Shepland, an amalgam of sheep and shetland, which sounded like a genuine area of the British isles and succinctly encapsulated the state of mind behind the brand.

Shepland Woven LabelShepland required a graphic identity that remembered the golden age of British manufacturing and conveyed a British sense of humour. The logo combined a vintage font to demonstrate the authenticity of the brand with a decorative flourish that could be interpreted as clouds or rolling hills.

Vintage-effect graphics in tones of sage green and beige, similar to old vintage books, were used as a base for highly-scripted headlines and a faded italic body font.

The logo and branding was translated across printed materials, such as line-sheets and press releases, as well as on woven and printed labels.

Rainbow Knitwear

Rainbow Knitwear

BRANDING, IDENTITY, LOGO, & GRAPHICS.

Rainbow Knitwear RRainbow Knitwear, a range of high-end intarsia knits, was launched in 2002 and needed a logo and brand identity to complement their range of products.

The premise of the colourful range was “Happy Knitwear” with influences including 1980’s Blue Peter, the 1970’s TV show called Rainbow, early Arcade games, and vintage knitwear as worn by Gyles Brandreth.

Rainbow KnitwearThe colourful main logo, using all the colours of the primary rainbow, was developed with a scrolling capital “R” to invoke the yarn used to create the knitwear.

Rainbow KnitwearFor printed materials such as business cards, catalogues, and swing-tickists, a simple rounded sans-serif font was used for body text with graphic blocks of colour, reminiscent of children’s “how to read” books.

Rainbow Knitwear in Relax JapanHandmade in Wales, Rainbow Knitwear was featured in The Telegraph, I.D. Magazine, The Observer, and The Face, to name a few publications, and received orders from Jones, Browns, Fletcher, Beams, Bond, Fred Segal, No-One, Zoltar, and many others, as well as developing a cult following in Japan.

286 Blue

286 Blue

BRANDING, IDENTITY, LOGO, & GRAPHICS.

286Blue It would be remiss of us not to include our own graphics, branding & website. We wanted a clean & simple identity that was instantly recognisable through a strong use of one colour; namely, Pantone 286.

Pantone 286Pantone is the leading colour authority globally that print and fashion designers use when specifying particular colours. There are many variations of the colour blue for example, so the Pantone system enables designers to specify the exact shade of blue required, such as number 286.

286Blue Pantone Business CardsNaming our company after a Pantone colour number meant, of course, that we had to have our 286Blue business cards printed in the exact same shade.

We simply love the colour. It reminds us of elegant French street signs, Yves Klein’s saturated artworks, vibrant brushstrokes, Greek-island rooftops and wooden doors, Yves Saint Laurent’s Moroccan gardens, the Mediterranean Sea, sunloungers, Portuguese tiles, and the colour of beachfront railings and lampposts in Eastbourne, East Sussex, our home town.
